WHAT'S MOST WANTED ONLINE RIGHT NOW?
JANUARY-MARCH 2012
1. Developer/Database Interns (1)
An interest of learning MySQL, Java, PHP, Python, Ruby on Rails will pay off for any student who knows one or several programming languages or knows how to manage a database. Particularly we see a trend in Start-ups who are constantly scouting for talented web developers and database savvy students. They know your value, and are offering paid internships if you got what it takes.
2. Distributed systems Intern (New!)
Companies are becoming increasingly interested in your knowledge of business systems and platforms that they use such as SAP, Eclipse, Oracle BPM, Salesforce, Siebel CRM, and more. Showing your experience or knowledge in any business system (remember to add it to your CV if you haven't already!) could land you your next internship, or if you are really good at it- a consultancy job.
3. Research Interns (New!)
Performing proper research is crucial for any organization to make the right decisions. They are looking for students who overall have an analytical mindset, is good with numbers and are able to process and analyze a large amount of data. Being organized goes hand in hand so if you're looking to apply for a research internship (research analyst intern) then point out your organizational and analytical experience and personal qualities.

It was a hectic year leaving us to fail to update you on the latest internship trends, but overall, we saw a development of normal internships such as marketing, business development, fund raising, non-paid internships to slightly increase, especially in companies who have recently begun posting internships on their job sites around the world, most likely because their HR department has understood the long term value of hiring new interns in relations to overall hiring cost.
In 2011, the year of social media becoming established as a department or standing role in organizations- we noticed a decrease in hiring social media interns.
We have seen an increase in hiring students with a concentration in computer science, programming, having analytical skills, being IT-savvy (you need to know your office package and how to search the web- to say the least!) and design related internships.
SEPTEMBER 2010
1. (2) IT/Web developer interns- Knowing your computer has become an essential to be an attractive candidate, these internships are normally fully paid and posted on the VO's-(virtual organisation's) own website.
2. (1) Social Media Interns- It is evident that more and more companies are in need of socially skilled communication interns who knows how to strategically reach out to their target audience in new creative ways.
3. (New) Web Design/Graphic Design- Mostly paid internships if you know how your front end.
JUNE-AUGUST 2010
1. (1) Social Networking Interns- Students with networking skills who knows how to quickly and efficiently reach a wide audience via modern media channels
2. (2) IT/Web developer Interns - Students who have studied business/finance/law/engineering with an interest for the web- Students who have basic programming skills- Java, CSS, C++, XML, XHTML etc..
3. (New) Sales & Communication Interns - Students with killer communication and networking skills
MARCH-MAY 2010
1. Social Networking Interns- Someone that is well familiar with Social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Delicious etc.
2. IT / Web developer Interns- More companies are starting to search for programming interns or marketing interns with programming/internet skills.
3. Volonteer Interns- Non-Profit organizations abroad are posting internships more frequently. A great experience.
