We invite you to apply for our 2010 Legal Trademark Summer Internship Program. This is a 10-12 week summer internship program starting in June in our New York office located at 300 Park Avenue (between 49th and 50th St.).
Responsibilities of the Legal Trademark intern includes performing a variety of functions within the Legal organization which may include but are not limited to the following:
Assisting a Colgate Attorney with:
* Domestic and international trademark litigations (opposition, cancellation, infringement actions) by reviewing files and corresponding with foreign attorneys
* Reviewing product labels, promotional material and television commercials for copyright, trademark and unfair competition issues
* Clearing trademarks for use and registration in the United States and internationally by conducting preliminary clearance searches, researching and investigating potential obstacles
* General internet and international intellectual property issues
* Investigating and removing unauthorized postings of copyrighted and trademarked material from the internet
Qualifications
* Must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. law school
* Must have completed one full year of law school before the start of the internship program (June 2010)
* Must have a current GPA of 3.0 or above in law school and have had an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above.
* Strong oral and legal writing skills required
* Excellent research and computer skills
* Ability to function in a team environment
