INTERNSHIP in Slough, United Kingdom as a Finance Intern for Amazon.com

As part of a multifaceted team, this position will support aspects of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, and will provide a valuable opportunity to assist various business partners in identifying accounting controls and processes that are required to support financial and operational reporting. The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership, identify improvements and drive positive change across the organisation, and should enjoy the challenges and rewards of working in a fast-growing organization and a very international environment. They should have a strong desire to exceed expectations, effective interpersonal skills; including persuasive written and oral communication, solid organizational skills, and some experience with information technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • For assigned areas of operational expenses and liabilities, successfully and accurately close the books each month within tight timelines. This involves multiple companies, currencies and geographies.
  • Working closely with business partners in UK, EU, and Globally to identify process improvement opportunities for existing processes and controls, and drive positive change across the organization.
  • Preparation of various monthly/quarterly deliverables to support both internal and external financial reporting needs
  • Applying knowledge of multiple reporting systems to deliver solutions. This requires advanced computer literacy (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) and the aptitude to understand system dependencies. Knowledge of Oracle, Hyperian Essbase, Cognos, database structures and SQL are an advantage.

Basic Qualifications
  • Studying for or graduated with a Degree in Finance, Accounting or other quantitative area.
  • Advanced analytical skills and detail-oriented, while also seeing and understanding the big picture.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing tasks.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills working with multiple peer groups and different levels of management.
  • Strong skills in accessing and using analytical tools (Excel, Databases).
  • Positive thinking, creativity, fun on the job.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work experience as an intern in similar environments.
  • Strong financial acumen and familiarity with general ledger close, management reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Ability to relate to operational business factors, including potential impact of business decisions on various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, Hyperion Essbase, Microsoft SharePoint, and Cognos
