Business Trainee in Houston
Scandic Food USA, Inc. is looking for an energetic and internationally minded student who is interested in learning and gaining hands-on experience within the fields of international business, import/export, communication, marketing and logistics in the USA.

As a Business Trainee, you will learn about and work with:
• Support, communication and problem-solving with clients, brokers and freight-forwarders, and our parent company in Denmark
• Analysis of major retailers that may potentially serve as sales channels
• Market research and planning in connection with new product launches
• Analysis and formalization of work procedures and marketing strategy
• General administrative office work

Scandic Food, Inc. in Houston, Texas, is a fully-owned subsidiary of the Danish company Good Food Group. Scandic Food owns and operates several food processing plants in Northern Europe. Scandic Food, Inc. imports, markets and distributes products to the retail and food-service sectors in USA, Canada and the Caribbean. CANDIDATE
You must have completed three years of a university level education and still be enrolled at an educational institution as a student of business

It is a prerequisite that the candidate uses the traineeship to earn credits
NB: The necessary J-1 Trainee visa can only be obtained through our partner organization by candidates holding a Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish or Icelandic passport.

The candidate should also:
• have a solid theoretical knowledge of business, marketing and economic concepts
• have a good command of spoken and written English and Danish
• have a genuine interest in learning about how business is conducted in North America – from the perspective of a Danish subsidiary

TERMS
The traineeship period is approx. 6 months running from January 2010 to July 2010.
The trainee is unpaid, but will receive a housing subsidy of US$ 400.00 per month, and will be eligible for the Danish student grant (Statens Uddannelsesstøtte). In addition, Scandic Food will provide guidance on financing through scholarships.
