PAID INTERNSHIP in Beijing, China as a Junior iOS/Android Engineer

Longcat Labs is a mobile application development company and is now looking for a junior iOS/Android developer to join the team for the autumn of 2012!
You will be working alongside the head developers in Beijing, China to design, develop and test the apps and contribute to delivering a variety of applications for iOS and Android mobile platforms.
Longcat Labs organize every employee work according to the following scheme : 80% work given by the management, 20% work chosen by the employee her/himself. The main task will consist in developing a network-based solution with web-services supplying in data websites, iOS and Android devices. Side tasks mainly consists in developing thin applications or enhancing features of existing applications.

 Longcat Labs is looking for
- Interns in Computer science, IT or related area;
- Strong interest in mobile application design trends and technologies;
- Independent, self-motivated and fast learner;
- Heavy user of mobile apps.

Required working technical skills 
- Object-oriented analysis
- Objective C or C++
- Android framework or Java
- Network, HTTP, JSON, XML
- Linux or Mac OS.

 Optional skills 
- HTML/CSS/Javascript
- PHP / SQL / CMS
- Design patterns
- Graphic design.

Written and communicating skills in English will be advantage. Any other language is appreciated.

INTERNSHIP in Dublin, Ireland for Oracle as an IT-engineering intern

Oracle is the world's most complete, open, and integrated business software and hardware systems company who facilitates and develop several well-known web solutions and database management systems and programs such as MySQL.

An 10 month intern placement has been published on Oracles career site for a competent software engineering student to function as intern for the Oracle Solaris Desktop team based in Dublin, Ireland.
Our desktop is based on the Gnome desktop environment and includes other open source software including the Thunderbird mail client, Firefox browser, and a number of multi-media software components. It runs on Sparc, Intel, and AMD platforms on both virtualised and non virtualised configurations. Additionally we provide our own internally developed desktop software which works alongside our open source software.

We have unique expertise in providing graphical user interfaces for a range of platform services including networking, backup services, and package management. Our team is made up of development, release engineering and quality assurance functions. Our development function is responsible for delivering competitive, high quality desktop software. Release engineering is responsible for build and integration of those components into Oracle Solaris. Our QA function provides both pre and post integration testing much of which is automated.

Ideal start dates are:  June 2012 or August 2012.

Responsibilities

  • Help with the deployment of new release engineering infrastructure based on the Oracle Cluster product
  • Manage the installation and maintenance of local servers ensuring they are in sync with the latest versions of our software.
  • Work on automating Oracle Solaris installs to ensure we have development and QA environments as soon as distributions become available.
  • Develop automated test suites and contribute these back into our own test suite repositories or to open source communities.
  • Run and maintain specific automated test suites for both desktop and other teams to whom we are providing a test service
  • Implement new test workflow processes to streamline our test cycles
  • Help integrate automated test scripts with our test cases management tools
  • Contribute to selected development projects


Qualifications

  • Studying towards a Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent degree
  • Experience of UNIX or Linux Operating Systems is preferable
  • Experience developing software in an open source community or as a spare time activity is desirable.
  • Scripting: bash, ksh, PHP, Perl, Phyton, etc.
  • Development languages: C, Java
  • Good communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Results orientated, and ability to manage priorities is also expected
  • Organized and detail oriented
